“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, you are a leader.” – John Quincy Adams
If there is one thing that we know for sure here at Orakel Marketing, it is that leadership is more than being in charge. You are not just leading a group of people at work; you are inspiring them to be more than who they currently are. When you first started as an entry-level employee, you had a leader, a mentor you looked up to, and emulated. As a seasoned vet in business, it is now your turn. Today, we are sharing our three keys to exceptional leadership and hope that they help you grow into the type of leader that your team is proud to follow!
- Maintain a great attitude
Did you know that your attitude is contagious? As a leader, you are the example for your people. If you start the day with a coffee in hand and a smile on your face, your team will follow suit. On the other hand, if you are cranky and unmotivated, your miserable attitude will spread like wildfire. We understand that being the person that sets the tone for the day is a big responsibility. However, this is what you signed up for when you agreed to lead a team.
- Have an open-door policy
Being a master communicator is essential to exceptional leadership. Your team needs to know that, no matter what, they can come to you. How do you create this type of relationship? First, you have to reach out to them on a personal level and build a healthy rapport. Second, when they do come to you with an issue, keep a cool head. Your people need to know that you are someone that cares deeply about them, someone who wants nothing but the best for them. Only when they trust you will they come to you openly to talk about their problems, goals, and aspirations.
- Be inspiring
When you think back on your career, what type of leader made the most significant impact on you personally? Was it someone who cared more about the bottom line than you? Or was it the leader that made you feel inspired? As we said earlier, as a leader, your every move is being watched. Don’t absentmindedly go through your day with little care. Instead, be intentional with your time and your actions. Be a leader that others are inspired by.
Here at Orakel Marketing, we take leadership very seriously; this is a title that is earned, not awarded based on seniority. If you want to be an exceptional leader within our walls, you have to prove yourself worthy. How do you do this? By implementing the three tips that we explained above into your daily routine. Even before you are an official leader, you can maintain a positive attitude, communicate with others, and be an inspiration for your whole office. It is these individuals that we want leading our people!
